edited September 2010 in Pro race
2005 was his year of note when he came third in the Giro with some great perdormances but pratically all his other races have been in South America.

But he will be back racing in Europe in 2010 as ISD have signed him.

He is on great form and has won:
Venezuela National Time Trial Championships
Vuelta a Colombia
Vuelta a Venezuela

He is only 5ft 4in and, if wiki is to be believed, 48kg

S'not that light is it, for 5ft4?

    I'm 5ft7 and weigh around 54kg...
Note: the above post is an opinion and not fact. It might be a lie.

I'm 5'4" and would give anything to weigh 54kg again.

Doubt he'd keep a woman warm in the winter at that weight though.
  • Is he going to ride a blinding Giro and then disappear to another team midway through the season? The boy's got form.

Fingers crossed it works out for him in Europe this year, he's had a tough couple of years.

Early season from - attacked at 15km and put 2mins into the next man. Reaffirms that he wants to win the Grio.

I'd love to see him ripping it up on the many mountains in this years Giro. Him vs. Sastre could be epic.

Langkawi this year had to have the weakest field ever. Let's not big up someone's Giro prospects based on a race where the majority of the field are Asian pros.

Let's see if he can repeat this performance in Europe between now and the Giro.
  • The words "pan" "flash" "the" and "in" spring to mind. OK so he's won some races but against poor opposition. The only reason he got so close in that Giro 2005 was sh*t hot form combined with the fact that Gibo, Savo and Basso couldn't be bothered marking him

He has some funny ideas regarding the best climbers...
“Right now I think I am the third climber in the world after Alberto Contador and Joaquim Rodriguez,” he bragged. “Armstrong and Andy Schleck? They are strong on the uphills, but they are not natural climbers.”

'Yeah, they can go up a hill fast on a bike; call that climbing?

    I wish I wasn't a natural climber.

At least I am sure he will provide good entertainment on the Giro climbs which will be good for the spectators.

He's also a nutter, prone to going missing for weeks/months on end and falling apart at a moment's notice. I'm sorry, but a good showing in South American races is no indication of form, when it comes to competing in Grand Tours?!

Hmmmm. Can anyone else think of any other climbers who used to do this?

That really sucks. How is that possible. Visconti not riding either.

Only because Tony "used car dealer" Savio didn't pay him. In fact that's an insult to car dealers.

Very good news. Rujano is in advanced talks with Footon-Servetto-Fuji to ride the Giro. It looks like we may well see him figure on the Giro's amazing climbs.

I suppose he will also be riding the Tour de France, so good. Makes Footon much more interesting all of the sudden!

Anyone know what is going on with Rujano at the moment? Clearly he didn't ride the Giro. His name popped into my mind earlier so I checked out the ISD official website. Although he appears in a couple of photos his name doesn't appear in the rider list. Has he moved elsewhere, or just left the team?

If he is as good as his own hype, why isn't he being snapped up by a ProTour team instead of a career going nowhere fast?

Maybe BMC could consider Rujano to help Evans in the mountains for this years TdF. Drafting in a late pick would likely upset team dynamics so unlikely I know. BMC could though, consider trying him out to see how he goes for the Vuelta 2010 with a view to signing for next years TdF attempt.

Cadel Evans could do with anyone to help him on the flat or in the mountains. His team was non existant at the Giro.
