Can you buy the rear hanger for a derailleur or do you have to buy a whole new one? Came of today and bent the sodding thing and the bike is only 2 weeks old! I have Sram X9 if that helps. I have searched on Chan reaction and a few other stores but can't seem to find them.
All help appreciated

The hanger, if we are talking of the same part, is part of the frame. Which bit has bent? You can replace the frames gear hanger on most bikes.0

Will get a pic up tomorrow, its all locked away in the shed now and dark but the part that is bent is the cage that hangs underneath the body of the derailleur which houses the 2 jockey wheels
I went over the handle bars and the bike came crashing to the floor, afterwards it was very tricky to change gear and i noticed that it did not look right!
The bike is a Gary Fisher HKEK (Sram X9 at the back)

so you say you have bent the mech cage? new mech time."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I had a go at bending it back into shape today, took it all apart and got hands on with my pliers
It seems ok now, it still skips a bit when in really low gears (1st, 2nd & 3rd) but other than that it seems good. I will have a bit more of a play later see if i can sort it and go for a ride and se how it holds up.
the bike is only 2 weeks old, can't believe i have done this already!
Cheers for the help0 -

Would of thought that the hanger might be out of true now as well.
It doesn't take much to bend a hanger.Craig Rogers0 -
What you described is the cage, not the hanger.
The hanger attaches to the bike at the rear dropouts, and the derailleur fastens to the hanger, not directly to the frame.
If yours is bent, as well as the derailleur, you can get replacements here:

From your post I take it you have bent the cage part of the mech and not the gear hanger which is bolted to the frame.
If so as you have already tried you may be able to straiten it yourself to a near new standard, If it was me I would just buy a new one.
As posted by someone else you should also check the gear hanger and frame alingement.0
