Afan kicks ass! Its got afan lodge for places to stay and its got brynbetws lodge and they've even got log cabins. Afan has got some of the best trails like ever! So just go there.0

If you decide to go to afan be careful , bikes getting stolen there every weekend, I have been there a few times myself and done the whites level and the skyline which where both great. But i would say coedy is more technical than afan and its a safer area to stay in. But the trails in afan are great to just be aware.Marin Mount Vision Beast

are you sure that bikes are getting stolen "every weekend"? my brother in law lives about 10 mins from afan and glyncorrwg (who rides mtb aswell) and i've not heard anything.
i admit that it's possible but that's a bit of a sweeping statement isn't it?0 -
I've not ever noticed anyone complaining that their bikes had been stolen on the occasions I've been down to Afan...
Add the fact I always stay in the campsite by the new centre with lots of top end bikes locked to cars etc...
But they are both really good fun, I don't really have a favourite, just that Afan takes me 4 hours to get to and Brenin takes about 5 so I usually end up going to Afan instead.0 -
Well maybe not every weekend but. There are numerous threads regarding the amount of bikes being stolen at afan. They even had to install steel containers at the campsite because of the amount of bikes being stolen at night that our locked inside peoples alarmed cars. There where 2 letters sent in to mbuk in july regarding the same issue. (bikes being stolen out of campers cars). There is even a sign on the door of glynncorwyg cycles telling you not to leave your bike unnattended because of the amount of thefts happening.
There our no signs at coedy cafe telling you not to leave your bike outside. In fact there is a stand to leave your bike in.
surely if you never lived locally to afan you would want to be informed about the possibility of your pride and joy going missing. Well i certainly would. Afan is an excellent facility for mountainbikers, the rides are great, the food is great and the shop is great, likewise as in coedy brenin. Im not saying bike thefts dont happen at other trail centres I was just advising him to be aware.
I certainly wasnt trying to slag Afan off its a great place and a great facility.Marin Mount Vision Beast

i wasn't saying it wasn't correct, just that i hadn't heard anything about it.
sorry i didn't mean to sound as if i was calling you a liar0 -
Yeah, I think you've gotta be carefull these days wherever you take a bike worth in excess of £2k. Something like a bike is so easy to steal and can be worth a lot of cash.
When I go I lock my bikes together inside my tent and attach an alarmed padlock that goes off if its disturbed enough. Its loud enough to wake up the entire campsite but I couldn't care less about waking everyone up if it meant my bikes didn't get stolen and to catch a theif in action would be good fun.
There is also a secure bike storage facility at Afan, although it costs about £5 a night or something, but probably worth it considering the value of the bike0
