Sticking new bar tape on. Previous was Bike Ribbon. Please recommend tape with plenty of padding. Or do some of you put some form of cushioning on the bars first. Many thanks.
I'm not getting old... I'm just using lower gears......

Cinelli cork gel, was fairly comfortable but I've now got gell pads and somecushioned tape because the roads around here are like cobbles!
edited for spooling0 -
I've used cork for years. No particular brand. Whatever was on sale in the color I wanted.
It's cork and I've never noticed a difference in brands.0 -
I prefer the thin stuff, like Deda, but if you want spongy, the Easton tape may appeal. I had it on one of my bikes, but too chunky for me.0

Just replaced mine with Specialized S-Wrap tape, very pleaed with result. Just the right amount of padding for me, but you can get the S-Wrap Roubaix Tape or BG Bar Phat for more padding.0

I've been pleased with the Ritchey Pro tape. Easy to wrap - the backing appears to have just the right amount of tackyness to allow hold / re-adjust.Cycling weakly0

have used cinelli gel cork tape before and used to like it best - but tried the specialized roubaix tape which is my current favourite. padded without being too thick and has a lovely alcantara / suede feel to it - very nice.0

I like Fizik tape with the Fizik bar gel - just the right amount of padding without making the contact area massive (my winter bike has Spesh Bar Phat and Spesh gels - you need hands like shovels!).0

Deff the fiz'ik i use the microfibre one and it may be thin but with the gel pads underneath for £ 18 well worth itG.H.Allum0

I use Fizik gel pads wrapped with Bike Ribbon Eleganza. Wonderful. That said, it's never exactly hot up here so I don't pine for cork tape.Bike lover and part-time cyclist.0
