Alternative to a Toupe Saddle

I would like to try another saddle as both my road bikes I kitted out with Spesh Toupe Gels however neither is particularly comfortable. I find myself shifting about quite a bit however having said that I've managed to get along with it for a year now so its obviously not the agony that some suffer with saddles however I just can't seem to get particularly comfortable so looking for an alternative.
I would like a nice light road saddle that obviously doesn't follow the same sort of design as the toupe as that would like replacing like for like and that probably will not work any better. Any suggestions as to saddles to consider.

The shifting about trying to get comfortable. After about 15 miles or so I normally settle into but then I think I just get used to it. Sometimes I have saddle sores down the left cheek to be precise about it other times - it underneath that gets it and other times it just fine. I'm not making a positional changes with the rest of the components and I don't know why but I just don't seem to be able to get a comfortable position that I can get into time after time. It just seems to be a process of luck as to whether I get there or not.
All the shifting is about trying to get that comfortable position I had the last day I was out but usually I just don't manage to find it again.
I'm just hoping for something I can just plonk myself down on a ride0 -
You could trial the Phenom (it's essentially a toupe with more padding/compliance) or just find an LBS that does a try before you buy!0

I just bought a Phenom, first use yesterday, 74 comfortable miles
I was looking for a Toupe Team, as a replacement for my Fizik Arione (numb bits!).
The guy in my local shop loaned me his personal Toupe Team for as long as I wanted it (had several).
I thought the seat was great, so bought one from him, but thought that the Phenom may give a little more comfort during the winter rides, so bought that as well.
I hadn't planned on using an LBS, they're too small and too expensive. But, as he'd been so helpful, I bought from him. He sold me both seats for a £100  That's about 40% discount ... Just love that LBS, now...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

Great stuff - I bought both my toupe saddles from my LBS and paid £160 and discount of 0%
I'm just not sure that something along the same lines is what I need. I have it my mind that a different shape might be better however I have no real reason to think that way I guess.0 -
I've got a couple of bikes with the Toupe fitted, but I bought one of these to try (currently on the best bike):
I sometimes find the Toupe a bit hard on the sitbones. This one has a bit more padding, with a groove rather than a cutout, and a similar weight to the Spesh. You may want to give it a try at £45 from Ribble.0 -
From what you describe it sounds as if your sit bones may not 100% perfectly aligned with the rear of the saddle ie constantly shifting about looking for the sweet spot .
I got a Toupe on one bike and a Prologo Nago PAS on another both good but prefer the Prologo its slighly narrower than the 143mm Toupe .0 -
Charge Knife.
sleeker than the spoon ( uber comfy saddle,I have one one the hack ) and a hell of a lot cheaper than the toupe.
swapped my toupe gel for one and never looked back. In fact in some weird way I dont notice the saddle anymore..which can only be a good thing meaning its comfy.0 -

Thanks just spotted this for £30 online at Rutland Cycles so couldn't resist. I've 2 saddles to replace so might be tempted by the other options suggested and then see which suits me the best and sell the rest off. Guess it depends on how comfy the Charge happens to be.
Apparently its been dispatched already so hopefully should get it in a day or two.
The Scott that came with CR1 wasn't up to much either and they are the only saddles I've ever had. Here's hoping things go well as I don't want to be one of these ones that has to go round every saddle on the market only to find heaven 16 saddles in :shock:0 -
Hiave you tried a Selle Italia SLR XP?. I had a Spesh Toupe and had the same problems as you. I tried the gel version to see if that was comfier but to no avail. The SLR took about 2 weeks to break in but now I find it really comfy in comparison to every other saddle I've used (Arione, Concor, Rolls, Flite, Turbomatic etc etc)
You can pick them up for about £60 now as well so they don't break the bank compared to many other saddles0 -

No I've only owned 2 saddles. The Toupe Gels and the Scott saddle that came with my CR1 but this one is on my list should not get along with the Charge Knife (what a name)0
