    The jokes are only a safety mechanism IMHO. I was in the army in 85, when the space shuttle went up. Within minutes someone came in the room and said "What does NASA stand for!?"

    Was that the one before the Challenger disaster in 1986?

    Yes, that was the one. All I could remember I was in trade training which was Sept 85 to June 86...I thought it was more the beginning than the end though. Thanks for clearing that up, in your own inimitable style. Well done!
