Hi Fellow Cyclists

I'm pretty new here and have joined up needing some help with a clipping in/out problem with my new Simano M424 SPD mountain bike pedals.

I have set them up as best as I can and have the Left pedal sorted. Clips in and out nicely.

The Right pedal though is very problematic. It lets me clip in but with a little stronger effort needed but also a really massive effort is required to release, and i mean huge effort.

now I understand the tensioning bit and with adjusting the screw tension to it's lowest limit. and that is where it is now without bringing the tension screw completely out, but i still cannot easily unclip from the pedal.

Has anyone on here had a similar experience and if so, did you manage to resolve it. :?:

Any help from your experienced selves would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Firstly, may I take the opportunity to welcome you to the forums. I'm no expert, but as for your problem, I haven't had it with my M324s I'm afraid, but there is something different between your pedals, obviously. My poor attempt at solving the problem is, assuming all parts are new (if not, try swapping cleats), that you should, I imagine, be able to compare the two pedals visually and to move the clipping mechanisms to determine that difference. Anyone else any ideas?

Thanks for the reply and welcoming me to the forum. I'd been lurking here for a while and decided it's time to jump in as i needed some help too.

I took your idea of swapping the cleats around. they are new with the pedals so i didn't think at the time that it would make any difference.

Now i have done this it was loads better. My M424's are double sided so after adjustments, one side is spot on, the other is still a little tight but i can live with it as long as i make a concious effort to expect it when stopping.

I can see i've already started some wear to the cleat while road testing so it will probly wear in better as i go along.

Thanks for the advise and help.

    Cheers : :D
