Have done some pictures of the wheels and the chainset, haven't pulled the cranks and BB off my old on-one (the frame of which is for sale) either yet. Bought some P2s off a guy from here, and hopefully some HS33s as well!

Looks like a sweet project :-) What are you gonna use for tensioning the chain?
you have inspired me, I've got some old 90's parts kicking about that need to be used on something0 -
thats what i'm talking about!
i have a SS chain tesioner kicking about i used to use before I got my slot drop out inbred frame. The HS33s arrived the other day, so when the forks arrive I am nearly there...- Kona Hot '96 - Marin Rift Zone '09 - Cannondale Synapse Carbon '06 - Kona Caldera '98 - Kona AA '94 - Dawes Kickback II - Cannondale BadBoy '11 - Genesis iOiD SS -0 -
V cool project.
I've done something similar with my '98 Dekerf Team SL. It's now fully rigid - got some light all alu forks from Taiwan on fleaBay. With a 44x17 gear ratio and 1.10 slicks it's a bombproof, fast and incredibly fun commuter. And an absolute blast on (fairly moderate) single track with nobbies and lower gearing.
I've always been tempted by a proper SS rear hub like the one in your photos to replace the XT hub + conversion kit I'm currently using. Also been tempted to have the now redundant braze-ons removed and have the frame resprayed.
Look forward to seeing pics of you finished project.
Happy trails!0 -
yes, i would like to have the braze ons removed ideally too, but the paint work is in such good nick i think it'd be a shame to waste it- Kona Hot '96 - Marin Rift Zone '09 - Cannondale Synapse Carbon '06 - Kona Caldera '98 - Kona AA '94 - Dawes Kickback II - Cannondale BadBoy '11 - Genesis iOiD SS -0

Loving that retro Kona, especially the brakes! I started on a 92 Kona Hahanna, made me feel quite nostalgic!0
-
thanks very much, i am hoping to swap my grips for black ones, don't really get on that well with the dmr locks ons anyway.
I also still need two new boosters for the maguras as the ones that came with that set are missing the inside hole since the last person cut them down to make more clearance. The one on the back is v. poorley fitted and there isn't one on the front at all at the moment.- Kona Hot '96 - Marin Rift Zone '09 - Cannondale Synapse Carbon '06 - Kona Caldera '98 - Kona AA '94 - Dawes Kickback II - Cannondale BadBoy '11 - Genesis iOiD SS -0 -
