Just reading MPs biog..very sad story indeed.

Matt Rendell's book on Pantani is one of the best cycling books ever - but like a lot of things in Pantani's life - who is doing the licensing deal? - it was the leeches, parasites and hangers-on that did it in for him.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

It just looks like cashing in on a name to me...0

Just because he's dead that doesn't mean anything
Point being that a great rider doesn't necessarily mean great frame builder they may have had some say but i bet it wasn't the full design/build.

Nothing different like most other sports the best always get there names on equipment Football Boots,Golf clubs, running shoes, snooker cues, bikes ect ect ect you would like to think the stuff bearing there name has at least been tested by them and endorsed after a succesful test i doubt this is the case here thoughMy bike

I think it was taken shortly after he got signed up by Carerra (August 92?). The bike there is a steel frame Vicini, from the shop in Cesena. The original photo is in b&w, as if they were aspiring to make a classic era portrait.
p.s. I just noticed this Pantani documentary on RAI's website:
