The one that fits your head best - different manufacturers fit different shaped heads better than others. Doesn't matter how many certifications it has, if it's not a perfect fit it's no good.Carlsberg don't make cycle clothing, but if they did it would probably still not be as good as Assos0

I have a Giro Ionos... Love it to bits, and yes, it fits!Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
Bell helmets have always been a good fit for me. They come in 3 sizes so more chance of geting the right fit so long as they suit your basic head shape. Managed to badly damage a Ghisallo after being hit by a car and my head came out intact. Now got a Sweep but haven't had the opportunity to test it out against a car yet. :shock:0

Try a few manufacturers helmets & see what fits best.
When you get over the £60ish mark, what you tend to be paying for is a lighter helmet with more vents. IMHOCycling weakly0 -
Yeah you must go try them on.
I really wanted a catlike whisper until I tried it on and it wasn't for me. I tried a LAS squillo and its the best helmet I've ever had comfort, style, airy it has it all for me.Bianchi. There are no alternatives only compromises!
I RIDE A KONA CADABRA -would you like to come and have a play with my magic link?0 -
No idea what the make of mine is but I know it was around the £30/£40 area. Had a £100 or so Giro until a flying dismount and close inspection of the road surface modified it into a two-piece. Head remained intact though. But I wasn't sorry to see it go. Sounds silly, but the sweat pads were really annoying. They weren't continuous across the forehead which meant that sweat dribbled down and in to my eyes. Worse in some ways was having to be careful when visiting shops as often I'd glance down and an embarrassing great rivulet of sweat would splash down on the counter.
And why is it so difficult getting replacements for these foam inserts? There doesn't seem to be an after market at all and lbs's always say "ah, I think we can get some in for you". I'd suggest too that you learn how to re thread the straps as they get really stinky after a few rides and you'll need to put 'em through the wash.I may be a minority of one but that doesn't prevent me from being right.

I'm on my 2nd Giro Ionos and I'm well impressed with it. Plus, I know that it does the job (hence my 2nd).
BUT it might not be the right one for you. There's no such thing as too old.0
