Am I going to need a new front derailleur?

Yup, i'm in need of help again  Just fitted my new chainset which sits on a hollowtech 2 BB. Fited according to the park tools website for a 73mm shell with one drive side spacer and none on the non drive side. Problem is that as the chainset obviously sits further out than it did before with an isis BB, the front derailleur does not have anywhere enough reach to make it to the middle, let alone the outer chainring

The front mech is an XT bottom pull clamp on. Not installed the chain yet put just from pulling to its full leverage with my hands i can see thats its not going to do the job.

Any suggestions?

Have you undone the 2 hi/lo adjuster screws to allow full movement :?:

surely you just need more cable tension?
the mech still has to move the same distance as before from lower to top chainring. remember to screw out the upper mech stop too

if for some bizarre reason the mech will not move far enough take the spacer away.

Thats the thing, the mech has to move further as due to the externall BB now being fitted, the chainset sits further away from the BB shell.

Screws fully out but just took the mech apart and it looks like the little pivot that the screws move is jammed. Will see if i can free it up but if not then its new mech time

I may be able to help you out but if this is for the gt force you'll need a top swing to fit the stubby bit of the frame. I've only got an slx conventional swing which wont fit the frame.

Lots on sale @ chain reaction from £15 -lx / deore / slx if you have to get one

Just agve that little pivot a clean and regrease. Working perfectly now thanksfully. Cheers for suggesting the screws Dave, I probably wouldnt have bothered dissasembling the mech otherwise.

I'll get this bike out for a ride yet!

Maybe your old chainline was shorter. You need to set the mech up from scratch.
