Suntour fork remote lockout control on the bar thingys

I'm curious, I just got a GT aggressor with Suntour XCR forks. One of the features I wanted on a set of forks was to be able to lock them out. But this is controled by a small lever on the top of the right fork leg.

Now a friend of mine has an older model of the aggressor, same frame, brakes, forks etc, but with one difference. The same model of forks have a lockout controlled by remote from the handlebars. Now I want one of these remotes.

I popped the lever off the forks on my bike, and discovered there is a splined drive on top that looks like it'll take a remote lockout lever control thingy.

So now for the questions:

1, Whats the proper name for one of these remote lockout thingys that has a control on the handlebars, and uses a cable to actuate it? If I know what its called I can try and get hold of it.

2, Do manufacturers sell these remotes as kits, to fit aftermarket?

3, If they sell these as kits to use aftermarket, are they easy to fit to the fork tops? (the bar end should be straight foreward to fit)

4, Can you recommend anywhere that sells them, and how much?
New round here so excuse me if i ask dumb questions...

Ive never heard of anything like this being sold seperately for suntour forks im afraid, have u tried emailing them direct? they might be able to point u in the right direction if such a thing is sold seperately.

Try Greyville UK. I suspect the assembly will be almost as expensive as anew fork.

  • I've got an Epicon fork on my fury and they don't do a retro kit for a lockout on suntour forks. Not that i've found one anyway.

when these forks are due for a change (no time soon I hope as the bike is only few weeks old) i'll think about a forks with a lockout.

I have a set of XCRs in the garage which have the remote, whereabouts are you? I don't really see me putting them back in a bike so if you like I could sell the whole lot...

Having said that, I just spent a little time removing the poplock from my Revelations as it seems a total waste of time, since I can reach the fork top without any trouble and adjust it that way.

but as it sprung it will not stay there.

you will need to change the internals/cap.
