Which bike of these two?

Help! I'm going in to buy a bike tomorrow but I can't decide between the Lapierre Froggy 318 '09 or the Scott Ransom 30 '09.
I have test ridden both and the differences are:
Ransom -
the good: much lighter, feels nimble, great adjustability on rear shock including remote lockout
the bad: finishing spec maybe not so good, fork not brilliant, slightly less travel than froggy at 160mm
Froggy -
the good: great looking, feels plush and rides fantastically, feels very balanced, excellent brakes
the bad: its weight at 17kg
My end goal is to ride the Mega next year but most of my riding is done at local trail centres like Swinley. I love the feel of the froggy but am just worried about its heft. It's worth mentioning i'm a pretty heavy guy too at 16 and a bit stone so I do need a tough bike.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom to offer me? My head says ransom but my heart says froggy!

which feels more natural riding? the spec and weight shouldn't matter if it rides well. though 17kg is a bloody lot!!0

I think the froggy tbh. Its heavy because it's a FR, whereas the ransom is AM. Therein lies the problem, the froggy felt brilliant (and would probably push my limits and start doing much more scary stuff) but I think the ransom probably more suited to my needs and more suited to most of the trail riding.
I could only test them on the road, but yes the froggy just felt smooooooth. 180mm travel would do that i guess. I need someone to pick one for me cos I can't decide ;-)0 -
Have you seen the new Scott Voltage FR 30 2010
Similar travel to the Froggy, but a bit lighter, 16.5kg, and a lot cheaper to change what ever you don't like/feels heavy.

I went for the Ransom 30 in the end! Wish I could have bought both. But I think a bigger rig is something for the not too distant future when my skill level has increased. Had a sleepless night trying to decide tho.0
