Can't find any reviews on it.

It's going to come down to this or the Boardman for me when C2W scheme is reintroduced for the company.

Ive looked at one in my local bikehut store and they are gorgous looking bikes, the frame is beautiful to look at and run ur hand over :P :D

Think the boardman is better specced for the money but the carrera defo has the better frame if u ask me and is only slightly downspecced compared to the boardman.

Looking like it may come down to whatever Halfords have the best deal on at the time then.

if you have a lot of offs, i would stay away from carbon, one crash and you could crack the frame, you have to be very careful with carbon, whereas the alu boardman frames can stand much more abuse.

Its not quite as bad as u make it sound, true carbon can crack but it takes a hell of a wallop and abuse to do it. If you ride normal XC which is what this frame is designed for you will have no probs with it even if u do have the occasional off.

    What a LOAD of cr@p !!!!
  • This seems like amazing value.
  • Someone mention a titan??

I love mine mate. what do you want to know??

Yeh its slightly lower spec than the boardman but you can always get these bits later as they wearout!

I work at halfords and a little birdy told me that 20% off all carrera's is coming on soon aswell so even better bang for your buck.
The boardmans are never gonna get money off unless you get last years model but these sell out like hotcakes!

For XC riding its an absolute joy to ride.

ok i was talking like a fairly major crash, like head-long into a tree at 20mph, which an alu frame (but likely not the wheels) may survive better than carbon... depending on a lot of things though i guess

Simple really, Boardman or Carrera for day to day XC stuff ?

I've had a Fury and a Kracken and liked both, so i'm not a label snob like some who dismiss Carreras.

I'm also happy in April to get an older Boardman if they're reduced, no problem with last years model for me :)

    Right,

having rode both i can say they both climb equally but i found the titan was more planted downhill. Maybe to do with flex in the carbon, i don't know.

Interms of components, if you shut your eyes on both of them, i'd say 80% people wouldn't be able to say which was x0x9 and x9x7.

I think to titan frame is also more upgradeable than the boardman, so you can really strip it down to a lightweight race machine if you want to.

And everyman and his dog has a boardman nowerdays, the titans different :)#

I'm running X4's and have no problem shifting, i don't get the 'bling' as much as some people.

It also wouldn't be stripped/specc'd at all unless it came to servicing/replacing old/broken bits.

Will likely be my main bike for 2 years approx so sturdiness is important too

Well i've changed the stem, seatpost, handle bars & shifters. None were needed but were changed for comfort & getting things at a really good price.

Mine is about a 1 1/2 years old and is still going strong with little maintenance. Gears tweaked abit when needed, then cleaned and lubed the same,

Just to add, ive had my carrera titan for about 13 months now and its been flawless.
