I'm planning a ride from Surrey/SW London to Whitstable in Kent, ideally taking in nice scenery and staying off main roads as far as possible. If anyone on here is familiar with north Kent, I would appreciate feedback on the route. The preference is to get out of London as soon as poss. Not too worried about the odd hill...

I'd say you've got a fairly nice route there. It should be fairly flat until you get east of Maidstone, then it's up onto the North Downs.

I can't zoom in using your map, but I suggest you climb the North Downs at Harrietsham or Lenham (nasty, sharp hills, but it's like that all the way), then stay on top as long as you can. The ride along the plateau is very nice - lots of small climbs to do, so a bit testing on your legs. I recommend you do it during a period of good weather, because if you go out a day or two after rain the top of those hills get a good, thick covering of mud.
