Depends on the type of race. I think Enduros are better as it seems to be that your best effort counts more than your actual position. Thats probably a better guage of how 'good' you are.

i think even if i came last in a race i would still enjoy it as long as i got to overtake people on the descents lol. it doesnt matter if they come back past on the climb
i may have been near the back on the Brechfa enduro cos i enterd in a team and my mate got really bad cramp.but that was the most fun of em all
