Mudguard advice

Hi all,
My first post so here goes.
I've recently started commuting to work by bike (children and hrs at the gym don't work) and I'm running a 58cm kona dew deluxe which has 700 x 37 tyres.
As I live up in Aberdeen and the shitty weather will be with us shortly I'm looking to fit a set of sks full commuter mudguards but I'm a bit confused as to what size I need. Some sites say the P45's will fit up to a 37 tyre while other sites say I'll need the P50's. Should I try fitting mudguards which offer the tightest fit or go for ones with a bit more room to manoeuvre?
Anyone had any experience fitting mudguards on a kona dew?
As a relative novice any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rich.

Not fitted them to the Kona but the SKS packaging reads P45 28-37 and is 45mm wide, P50 38-45 and is 55mm wide. A bit of ruler action between the legs of your forks will sort which will fit. Cant see from the online images is there a hole in the fork crown where a caliper brake would bolt and something similar between the rear forks. ie somewhere to hang the guards from?Neil

Yeah the are holes over both forks. I'll measure up after work and see what room I have to play with. If I can fit the P45's would they look better on the bike? Or would they not catch as much crud as the P50's.
Then the fun and games begin trying to fit them with the disc brakes but I've a mate who says he'll give me a hand with that.0 -
It's as much the clearances as anything. I had really close clearances on a bike of mine and bits of wet crud that collect on the rivets start to rub on the tyres. I like 3mm plus clearance to allow stones to pass through easily. So i would go for the larger if they'll go in.Neil

Well they've been ordered and should arrive today (just in time as the poor weather seems to have migrated north), so I'll see how the fitting goes.
Thanks for the advice Neil.
