Hi guys,

Looking at spending up to £1000 on a hardtail and thinking of a Merlin Malt 4, with Reba Race fork upgrade.

http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/custom-mo ... -4-09.html

Not sure about the other upgrades available, as there isn't much info on the rims or finishing kit?

Do you think this is a good way to spend my money or would I be better off getting something else??!

Will

I'd go for the Reba Race, SLX drivetrain & Mavic xc717 rim upgrades

    with the 10% online offer it's £1076.60

    Decent spec, decent bike.

  • Not sure if you have already seen it and decided it's not for you, but personally, I'd go for the Boardman Pro.

Just seems to be a slightly better spec all round and I suspect it may be a bit lighter too. The Malt 4 is a nice bike though, especially with the spec suggested by Andy above.

    Cheers guys.

How much lighter do you think the Boardman would be? Also I thought they were quite difficult to get hold of?

My thinking was the Malt would be a bit more unique.

Would the Reba Race on the Malt would come with lockout? It doesnt specify, but that is the model they sell separately.

    All Rebas have lockout.

The MALT 4 frame will be lighter than the Boardman's, but the finishing kit o the latter takes the overall weight lower.

    Hi,

I've been having a look through some 2010 bikes and was wondering about the Cube LTD race,

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=44335

looks really nice on the Cube website, have there been any reviews of there 2010 range?
Is there any difference in the frames from 2009-2010?

    Cheers
