    IMO Avast is better of the free ones (thats based on me knowing some viruses get through AVG before from first hand experience, although Im sure other people have seen similar through Avast).

    Kaspersky Internet Security is worth the small spend if you want something thats well priced and minimum effect on your machines running for the protection that you get. Normally can get 3 comps for 1 year protected for £20ish

    AVG too. I actually went for the paid version - since for the business, the licence covers three computers, and it's alledgedly slightly more up to date.

    Have used free for years too. Compared to others I've used, mainly at work situations, almost entirely unobtrusive - have had problems with mcafees etc slowing things down way too much.......

    nod32: if you are cheap you can just reinstall the time limited (but otherwise fully functional) trial every 30 days. Avast was a bit of a cpu hog for me, and AVG is pretty poor at detection.

    ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4, not Smart Security (you need to register that).

    Bit of an edit: AVG seems to have improved since I last looked, still misses more than Nod32 but;

    Avast for our pc and 2 laptops

    Noticed AVG just released a new version of AVG free

    Zone Alarm firewall on the XP machine, Windoze firewall OK on Vista. (Comodo also highly reccommended)

    Also recommend a weekly springclean with CrapCleaner

    And Superantispyware occasionally to hoover up anything the rest have missed.

    I use:

    AVG antivirus
    Comodo firewall
    Malwarebyte's anti-malware
    CCleaner

    All on XP.
