Wrong time of year for new bike?

So I've been riding around my local lanes on my slicked mountain bike for the past 2 years, wishing I had a road bike. I'm using it just for exercise, only ever ride alone and at this time of year mainly in the dark. I'm doing 50-80 miles a week.

My mtb is a Spec Epic full suspension which I generally lock out front and rear but I'm sometimes grateful to be able to flick on the front suspension at will on rough sections of road.

After 2 years of road riding an mtb I realise I'm never going to offroad on it and I'm getting a little worried that if I keep it much longer suspension servicing may cost me a lot of money plus the second hand value will start to drop if it gets much older.

So do I sell it now get a road bike like a spec allez comp or the new sector, or leave it till next spring. I see that Wiggle are selling the 09 Focus Ultigra cheap.

I can't have 2 bikes as I will need to selll the Epic to finance another purchase.

I see that alot of roadies have a winter trainer and keep their best bike for he summer months. Clearly this makes sense.

I can't decide what to do. Should I be looking at a really cheap second hand road bike for the moment or is this just a waste of money. I won't be happy riding anything crap even ifit does make sense!

Advise please.

It sounds like you have talked yourself into buying it, the advantage of this time of year is that there are some good deals to be had.
