Hi

Anyone know of a website listing continental Sportives or Fondo's ?
Preferably by date and or location ?
I want to go to the alps really, July onwards, easyish to reach hopefully.
Love to climb the Stelvio - it just looks insane - if it's on any Fondo routes.
Etape looks like too much hassle what with cost, dodgy operators and difficulty in getting a place.

Looking for a challenge as 40 next year and a last chance to prove "I could have been a contender" !

Idea's, thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Cheers

  • Hi
    Try http://www.cyclosport.org

Click on Events at the top left of the home page, and you will see UK, Europe etc as a sub menu to chose from

    Thanks

Works better doing it by country rather than Euroland as a whole.

The longer route of the Dreiländergiro cyclosportive (168 km, 3300 m) includes the Stelvio in its route. It starts at Nauders in Austria, in 2010 it's on 27 June and I think you can already register (50 Euro including a cycling jersey, printed with date of event). Done it twice and was very happy about (almost*) all aspects.
(* jerseys were only given out on arrival at finish and first time I did it, they no longer had my size by the time I arrived)

The Marmotte is a classic Alps sportive but the Time/Megeve-Mont Blanc is good. GPM10 generally cover both of these but there are other people or you can do it yourself. There are the Italian ones, Maratone di Dolomiti,Sportful Gran Fondo and Campag Gran Fondo
