I feel like such a lightweight, I have no idea as to what condition I would be in if I tried to drink 24 cans of beer in a day, even wee wee Ausbo beer. I imagine I would be peeing for most of the afternoon and probably not where Im meant to

6 Cans of strongbow wrecks me, I think 24 cans would kill me.

If you're drinking all day and not binging then it's easily possible.

At T in the Park this year I drank (I know because you buy vouchers and I'd taken 3 crates of Strongbow) 32 pints of Blackthorn and over 30 cans of Strongbow in 3 days and I wasn't that bad. I was drinking from 8 or 9am until 3 or 4am rather than squashing it into a few hours.

It took me a week to feel normal again but what a weekend! 8)

Wine-drinkers must also show restraint, facing a four litres per day limit.

Police hope the limits will prevent the famous New South Wales race being blighted by alcohol-related violence.

As long as everyone sticks to their 4 litres of wine (and no less) I can't see there being much violence

My last big effort was at England v India at the Rose Bowl. Started drinking at about 10am, I was fine up until about Tea, then it was all a bit blurry. I remember my mates being interviewed by Beeb radio at the end of the day and thought that the good people of Hampshire needed to hear my opinion too. Then I realised that the 2 flights of stairs between me them and me appeared to be moving and that this was more than enough to prevent me from addressing anyone. No idea how much I drunk, the next thing I remember was waking up back at our Hotel the next Morning and thinking where am I, how did I get here and far more importantly WHO UNDRESSED ME  Once I realised that my Bum didnt hurt I was ok

I'm under severe pressure to take my daughter to T in the Park next year, but so far I've resisted. I think you've just strengthened my resolve.
  • There is no way in holy hell they will ever enforce this. I have been to the Bathurst 1000 twice and it is a petrol-head's Glastonbury. It would be akin to the cops at Glasto saying that they would enforce the drugs laws there = either no festival or a massive riot.

As others have said, 24 beers in a day is easily manageable especially when you are camping and outside all day.

crap - if the French Police tried that at le mans it would cause riots, it was bad enough when they banned paddling pools!
  • The Bathurst race is famous for its stories of excess - in response to a similar crackdown a few years ago race fans were going to the circuit weeks in advance and burying alcohol supplies around the circuit. The mountain section is notorious for its partisan fans - you are either in bue and a Ford supporter, or a red backing the Holdens in the race.

I've never been - but the race itself is a great spectacle, the five litre V8 touring cars a quick and dramatic, and the TV coverage usally excellent (the Aussie's had perfected in car cameras etc way before the rest of us got intot he idea, and even in the 1980's were interviewing drivers out on the circuit durting the race).

I wouldn't make any kind of judgement until you've been. The atmosphere is fantastic. Yes, there is a lot of drinking but it's a music festival. It's all done in the correct spirit and I've never witnessed any trouble.

As I said in my first post it's because no one is binging it's all done at a steady rate. Also, it's all beer and cider and not spirits which helps.

Get a day ticket for the weekend and see for yourself instead of being judgemental.

And mines is a Blackthorn :D
