Willier Izoard

Hi All

Gradually been upgrading my bike bit by bit, and only the frame is left now from the original bike. I would like to replace the ageing ally frame with a nice light, stiff carbon frame up to £2000 max. I am looking at Willier Izoard, Basso Astra or perhaps a Look. I know the Basso is a very new frame, so what do people have to say about the Willier? The Cento Uno is out of my price range sadly.

Thanks

Derek

Shame the Cento Uno is out of your budget, cos that is one sweet ride. I couldn't fault it when testing back in July.

Izoard looks the part. Ws the bike I orignally wanted - but with ultegra was coming in at £2600, which I couldn't justify.

I have an Izoard and I think it's fantastic to ride. I have no experience of the Basso though so can't help I'm afraid.

I have an Izoard. Stunning looking bike, a great ride but I'm not sure I'd have or recommend another. To me the real downside is the warranty. When I bought mine in early 2008 it had a 3 year warranty. Within 18 month the white paint had failed on it and the replacement frame I was supplied with now only comes with a two year warranty. I feel for a £1500 frame/£2250+ bike that isn't great when others come with lifetime guarantees.

I've been looking at the £1000 - £1500 range and other options you might want to have a look at include the Kuota Kebel, Argon18 Gallium and Giant TCR Advanced

I went for the Kuota Kharma over the izoard :-

    It was a lot cheaper
the fading paint issue on some wiliers
    I wanted ultegra

The Izoard is a superb looking bike though
  • Thanks all for your input. I was planning to buy just the frame and build the bike up using the groupset I already have, but it's old (2004) Ultegra. Maybe I am best off just buying a complete Izoard and turning the other into a Winter bike.

I'll check out the Kuota too...

    Thanks

A little bit of a late reply....... but just found out that my LBS is hosting a Basso open day on 31st October 10am-3pm. Might be worth going along and trying one out, the shop also stocks Wiliers but were awaiting 2010 stock when I was last in there, you never know they may let you try both.

Hammerite I built an Izoard from a frame with Racing 1's and would have no hesitation in recommending the Izoard. My original frame was one of the fading paint jobs but contacted the importer who told me to take it back to my dealer.I had my new frame in 4 days.I cant complain about warranty and the bike is a lovely stiff ride.Would definitely buy another willier and would love a cento 1
