I took a tumble last night while out night riding. I stupidly reached down to adjust my rear suspension from short to long, while on a decent and lost control. Anyway I hit some thing hard and went over bars landing on my back.
My water bladder in my Karrimoor pack (highly recommended). took the full force and exploded. Despite getting drenched as a result, I ended up with a very soft landing.
Fortunately it was only the bladder which was damaged and I have plenty of those spare.

I tend to fall off once every couple of weeks... Which is a good improvement - a few months back I was falling off a couple of times an houir
Its the motorbike rider in my makes me think I'm going really slow and therefore can do stupid things, like adjust suspension when I'm descending a 1:40 -
I will assume your hydration bladder was rather full?
I've gone over the bars with a HydraPak backpack containing a 2L bladder which must have been half full (as I always put 1.5L in it and had been siphoning from it for a while) and it also made for a soft landing. I think it's luck personally.. but it sure beats having the wind knocked out of you.0 -

I did the same thing with an Inov-8 bladder coming down Cave Dale into Castleton in Derbyshire. Hate to think what state my back would of been in if the bladder hadn't taken the hit, Deluge of water pouring down my legs when I stood up gave my mates something to laugh at too.0

What hydro packs have you guys got?
I've burst a cheap "Gelert" one, but my Camelbak and Blackburn ones have survived several big impacts.0 -
I have a Karrimor Re-fuel 8+2, but I don't use the bladder which came with it, I use a slightly heavier duty one.
I geuss a cheap bladder is more likely to explode, but mine was full and took quite a smack. Plus I have a multi-tool spare, inner tube 1st aid kit and other emergency items in the pocket which would not have helped.0
