Shifter advice needed please.........

Hi

I am thinking of changing from xt to xtr shifters can i chnage the shifters using the existing cable and just undo the xt shifter and basically put the new one on?

    remove inner cable, remove shifter, grips & brake lever, fit new shifter, brakes & grips, fit new inner cable, job done

    XTR comes with a premium cable installed so use it & the new cable outers, you will have to re-index the gears but it's easy enough. There's stickys above explaining how to do this.
