sub £1000 carbon frame and forks

I'm starting to think about building a new race bike for next season, and I'm shortlisting carbon F&Fs (compact) for the build.
I don't really want a full bike as I've got most of the bits to go on it already, and I prefer self builds anyway.
so far I've got:
Planet X - super cheap at £400 (without headset) but maybe a tad cheerful too
Kuota Kharma - £800 ish
Kuota Kebel - maybe a £1000ish if I can haggle
Giant TCR Advanced - last years may come under £1000 if I can find one
what else is available as a F&F option?
or would it be better to buy the whole bike and split it up - more options that way?

Cinelli Willin' - circa £950 ish.
But, basically the same as a PX, so possible waste of money! :oops:Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -

The Willin frame is not the same as used by PX.
From a distance they look similar, but look closer and there are big differences in the head tube and seat tube areas.
This is how dodgy rumors start !Mens agitat molem0 -
My apologies, bazbadger, I can see the similarities, but haven't had the opportunity to compare them next to each other.
As a Cinelli Willin' owner... You do not know how happy I was to read your above post!
Cheers, mate...Start with a budget, finish with a mortgage!0 -
If I could build my own bikes I would be looking at one of these:

Not as great value as they used to be before the pound sank without trace but the dollars not that healthy either so still pretty decent value.0 -
A quick look on the net and i come up with the following
Willier Mortirolo €1039
Cinelli Willin €999 already covered in above posts
Concorde R-Blade €750
Orbea Onix €800
Guerciotti Ares €875
Time Speeder €971
Principa RSL C12T €900
Eddy Merckx LXM €870
ALL FULL CARBON FRAME AND FORK AND 2009 MODELS.

i like the kinesis KR810 -
http://www.shinybikes.com/product.php?productid=17033
which is well into your budget.
A bit more 'sportive' in it's frame angles / geometry than some which might suit or might not.0 -
A lot depends a lot on your weight, your size, style of riding and what you want it for. If you are paying for a 'brand' I'd just want to make sure you're paying for a unique design too, not just a paint job. You could also add Battaglin and Argon 18 to your list.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I was erring towards the Giant TCR Advanced but that's got me thinking Mr. Rouge...Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
I like the idea of an adjustable headtube too.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

Dedacciai Scuro RS from Ribble for £950 (when they're doing their 15% deal) would be my choice for the T800 carbon, differential head tube and aero integrated seat tube
Next years Giant Advanced TCR is a big improvement on the look of this years for me but the price has jumped to £1500, though if you like the black and red of the 09 model, I would suggest keeping an eye on the JE James site as they regularly sell off their outgoing frames around October / November for big discounts0
