Fitting an extra bottle cage

I'd like to fit an extra bottle cage to my road bike - possibly behind the seat or on the bars. There doesn't seem to be much out there and I think I've tried the main approaches:

- this Minoura thing http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Minoura_SBH-300_Dual_Bottle_Cage_Mount/5360020703/
- this thing from Zefal: http://www.amazon.com/Zefal-Bicycle-Bottle-Mounting-Bracket/dp/B0012Q9WIC

Neither is ideal: the rear mounting bracket would work ok but is fugly and I don't really need 2 extra bottles: the Zefal option doesn't like the fact that my seat tube is different widths at different points.

Anyway, the question is: is there any structural reason I shouldn't just use cable ties and a bit of padding to tie a single bottle cage to the back of my seatpost, if I can get it to fit tightly enough? The post is aluminium, not carbon, and there's plenty of room. It seems like the most elegant solution...

I've got some things a bit like the zefal ones in your link (but different manufacturer). They're cr@p, and not much more than glorified cable ties, the only difference being the integrated nut. I think that your solution sounds a lot better, but make sure that you over engineer the ties; I would go for the ~8mm ones myself.

    FCN 2-4.

Thanks, I'll give the cable ties a go first because I think I'll still be able to get a saddlebag in there too and it looks like that's out with the Tacx mount. If that fails I may go for a Camelback...
