I am looking for a second bike to do the following:-

- winter training bike
- be able to fit a childs seat so that I can carry my 6 month old son
- light off road e.g. paths
- a bit of touring

The use of the bike will be pretty much in the above order.

I have narrowed my choice down to either the Specialized Tri Cross Sport or the Kona Jake the Snake.

Can anyone please provide any comments on which may be most suitable.

Don't knwo if it's much help, but I looked at the Tri Cross, and was impressed. My priorites were commuting and touring though- don't know anything about the Kona, I'm afraid.

I've been asking myself similar questions - have you considered the Ridley Crossbow - I think on balance I would go for the Kona - Mavic wheels and Shimano 105 drive train - the Tricross seems to have a problem with wheel strength - not good if you're planning on carrying a child seat or loading for touring
