Fulcrum Zero

Afternoon,
I've settled on Fulcrum Racing Zero for my posh bike. Is there any disadvantage to using the 2-Way Fit with normal clinchers ie is it a tighter squeeze getting them on? I fancy trying out tubeless next year, and would rather be future-proof if this thing takes off.
While I'm on the subject, and I may have missed something here, but why does it not seem possible to "ghetto" a normal clincher for road tubeless the same way it is is MTB circles?

i have the zeros - a fantastic wheelset.
i use continental GP4000s with them & they are very easy to fit - you can almost put them on by hand. great for when you need to change tyres for whatever reason.0 -
Cheers for the reply - is that the 2-Way Fit you're using?0

yes, but I only intend to use clinchers.
but going back to what i said, the GP4000s are such a good fit I just wouldn't want to use another tyre...plus they're a fantastic tyre in terms of rolling resistance/puncture proof/weight0 -
Thanks for the tip, I'm thinking of trying Conto's Attack/Force combo too - my Pro 3's just seem to pick up an awful lot of cuts.
2-Way Fit it is then!0 -
Hey Keith, you can use Stan's stuff to run tubeless on non-tubeless rims.

the main reasons for not going ghetto on roadie wheels is that Stans tape and valve is lighter, and the rims are a bit narrow to get a good seal by the valve. I've tried it out on my winter roadie wheels (with fairly wide A319 rims) and it worked but the part of the tube by the valve was a snug fit in the rim cavity and didn't leave much room for the tyre bead. On, say, an Open Pro it would be even tighter squeeze.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

I also have the Racing Zeros and have used Pro3s - whilst they go on easy, i agree they cut way too easy. Onto GP4000s now - also go on easy, but seem to be more robust. But an excellent choice of wheel - strong, well made and look the dogs danglies. I must add I use these for my winter bike though and Zipps for summer - reason is the Racing Zeros are so strong.0
