Cycle gear is generally grossly overpriced, has anyone got a list of cheap outlets to buy it?

I've been in TK Maxx a few times, but they don't seem to sell much cycling stuff.

Bought a few things in poundland mind. :D

They do generic stuff like fleeces, base layers, jackets etc.

    Also Decathlon.

I can vouch for the Lidl shoes being reasonable.
My last set lasted about 2 years and I've just bought another set. Not particularly light or waterproof but fine for riding around trail centres.

Not been impressed with the wireless computers in Lidl or Aldi recently. Both just haven't worked. :(

Mountain Warehouse for decent quality, inexpensive fleeces and base layers. TK Maxx for base layers and sports tops, and Vans shoes for the flatties users.

    Military surplus.

Cut down and re-hem Grade 1 Issued combat fatigues for instant shorts (treat with Nikwax CottonPruf for water repellency.

I also have a Dutch army Goretex waterproof jacket for winter, £25 brand new; a Russian telnyashka shirt for layering; and a quarpel-treated Norwegian windproof smock.

The old-style MoD 24-hour ration packs are great for winter trail grub too if you can still find them.
