  • DONT TURN UP ON A FIXED WHEEL BIKE
This is a ROAD BIKE session

    is that clear
    its for ROAD BIKES ONLY

What I mean to say is that no fixed wheel bikes

Let me know if this is not clear enough

    oh don't forget your lights
  • I am getting faster doing these sessions down at Preston Park really great fun if a little hard at times.
  • What if your winter bike that has lights gaurds etc is fixed wheel also-a true winter bike
Hope that would be ok :D
  • have you got brakes ?

If the answer is yes then do come over and show us how riding a fixed wheel is actually ok :lol::lol::lol::lol:
  • ARE THESE TRAINING SESSIONS STILL HAPPENING. I would like to have a go sometime if they are, as I visit friends in Brighton often.

Can someone explain to an oldie-newbie in words that aren't too complicated what a 'chain-gang' is? I live in Brighton and I think I'm interested but worried it may involve S&M etc.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

IT IS JUST LIKE S&M NASTY PEOPLE DISH OUT PAIN AT THE FRONT OF THE LINE AND SUBMISSIVE WEAKLINGS AT THE BACK SUFFER BADLY.

    JUST JOKING -- OR AM I ?

No really this is great training for all abilities.

The format is described on the ON THE RIVET website I think
    http://ontherivet.ning.com

It is basically one long line with the front rider doing half a lap at the front then the he/she moves over and lets the line (or chain) of riders through.
The front rider moves off the front lets the line through and then joins on the back hence the term chain as the riders are like links in a chain. If one rider fails the chain is potentially broken.

Down at Preston Park it is a great place for beginers to have a go with the big boys and girls once YOU have learnt the format.
IF you feel tired you can drop out get your breath then join back in again.
The format is 3 sets of 15 mins

    1ST 5 MIN IS EASY
    2ND 5MIN A LITTLE HARDER
3RD 5 MIN FAST WITH 3 LAP COUNT DOWN AT THE END

UNFORTUNATELY IT IS THE LAST WEDNESDAY SESSION NEXT WEEK 7TH APRIL

  • OH SO YOU LIKE S&M THEN :-)
Great come down and dish out the pain or suffer like a dog and embrace the glorious pain !

Last one next week before the track guys come down to start the Track season off.
