..after a stinking cold?

I've not ridden for 10 days due to a really nasty cold. Is it advisable to wait until it's totally cleared up or can I push it a bit? My thigh muscles are turning to custard but I don't want to risk a relapse...
Opinions, please.

Try some easy spins out mate, nothing too taxing and have a bit of a clear out and see how you feel. Lots of rest and fluids mate.
  • If its still in your chest then no riding seems to be the advice I always get. However, this year Im determined to stay snot free and have begun the vit c and echinacea rituals. If anyone else knows of any little pills I can spend money on to not get a cold this Winter then please let me know asap. I believe that if I believe that I am more resilient to colds and flus then I will be :?

Came down with a snotty one on Wednesday and am heading out for an hour or so tonight to try to sweat and blow it out. Could be messy on the local roads.

Cod liver oil is an immune booster. A combined vit c and zinc pill could be considered.

^^ agreed - a vitC and zinc supplement works wonders I think - it might be in my head (or I might have been lucky) but I swear I have had less colds since I started taking a VitC and zinc supplement.

I was off for several months this year. Don't go back too early whatever you do.

That works for a head cold
If it's still on your chest, don't do anything other than REALLY steady.
You can do some damage to the heart muscle, from what I recall.
    so many cols,so little time!
  • I have been riding 15 -20 miles at 15mph average, just enough to get a sweat on and replaced my usual run 3 days with long walks instead.

After Tuesday's arthroscopy with lateral release, I suspect I'll be off the bike with no
circuit training for a least 8 weeks.

My lungs feel like they are full of treacle so I went to see the quack. I'm now on a course of antibiotics for "bronchitis"

That's another 5 days off the bike at least

The weather today has been beautiful - 28 degrees and low humidity; the best day since April. I am so p*ssed off

  • I've been off the bike for nigh on 5 months after a couple of bouts of surgery. Was back in the saddle for the 1st time yesterday for a very easy 35 minutes. I'll be taking it VERY easy for the next couple of weeks but I think its important to have a target to aim for. I'm focusing on the Xmas Cracker in Dec as my 'return'.

I always ride through it. But, I do cut the rides to about 1hr - enough to clear the system - Yuk.
