Cannondale Bad Boy 700 Pedal Height - Pedal to seat reach

Not sure if anyone else who has a bad boy can offer any advice.

I recently purchased a large Bad boy 700 as my winter commuting bike ( I am 5ft 11). I set up the saddle the same height (floor to seat length) as my Boardman Team hybrid and also my mountain bike. Rode it into London and immediately my knees felt as if they were coming up towards my chest far too high and felt cramped. Turns out that because the Bad boy is essentially a mountain bike frame when you add the 700 wheel it makes the bottom bracket at least 5cm higher off the floor than a standard road or mountain bike. This means that I will need to have my seat at least 5 cm higher than I normally have it to get the same pedal to seat reach.

Consquently it means that I am literally on tip toes to reach the floor when in the seat and will probably have to get out of the saddle when stopping at lights.

Has anyone else noticed this with the 700 wheel Bad boy? To me it's a bit of a design failing as they seem to suit the 26inch rim but not the 700 wheel variants

Whether you can touch the floor on not is usually not a consideration when designing bikes (I can't touch it at all on my Zaskar in my preferred riding position!) but the BB height does seem unusually high for a bike like this.

However 700c wheels and narrow tyres come up about the same diameter as a 26 inch MTB wheel and thick MTB tyre.

i have a badboy 700, in medium, and am 5'10".

it's quite an agressive cycling position, and yes you have to get out of the saddle at lights, but i don't see that as a big deal. i'd suggest you're normally out of the saddle to accelerate away safely (i.e. as fast a possible) in traffic. My mountain bike feels incredibly upright compared...

i'm happy to discuss further if you want...
