Well, the 2009 focus cayo was aimed at the sub £1000 carbon bikes market, and was a good bike, they sold lots of them due to the good price and carbon frame, the 2010 one is near enough the same and is £1500!, i don't think they'll sell a lot this year.

That price will plummet when all the 2009 stock has cleared the closer we get to this time next year.
It does seem that Focus have go for premium pricing though instead of undercutting the market...
Oh well, I guess Focus have now established themselves in our market (in 3 years no less) I guess in 2010 I'll be recommending another up and coming brand instead...Food Chain number = 4

I brought a Cayo Expert about 3 years ago. It was the same price as this years but being the "Expert" came equiped with Ultegra rather than 105. I imagine the poor Pound must be having some effect on the price.
Seems to expensive for what you get to my mind0 -
Yeah I suspect a lot of it is the euro. My 2 year old cayo came with ultegra for a grand, now you have to pay 50% more for 105. I might have to start taking better care of my bike.0

I just think by raising the price by that much, they have lost the targer market for that bike. Which is a shame because i think last years cayo was wiggles best selling bike.Ribble Gran Fondo

Not that it matters but I got my 2007 expert for £999.99. Absolute bargain now (and it was when I bought it).Powered by Haribo.0 -

The Focus Cayo 105 2010 Ltd Edition is exclusive to us at Wiggle, we wanted to give the people in the UK an exceptionally good value full carbon framed road bike as close to the original as possible, without breaking the bank!
Yikes!!!!
I think this is a bad thing. Why would you want to buy a full carbon bike that weights that much????
I could see many people buying it then thinking what is all the fuss about?0 -
I do like the Focus Izalco Pro 2.0 2010 http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Focus_Izalco_Pro_20_2010/5360045304/0

yep considering my cayo 105 is well under 10kg with pedals seat pack etc
cant see how they've got it that heavy0 -
Even with the wheelset at 1850 kg that is one hell of a weight penalty.
I think they should forget about a sub £1000 Cayo from now on.0 -

Where is the weight listed on their site? and how does a bike gain 4kg in weight? I think you may have been misinformed...?0 -

Yoikes indeed, my £800 Boardman is supposed to be 8.2 Kg0
-
It must be a mistake with the quoted weight. 25.5 lbs is in the territory of £99 catalogue rubbish.0

I can see that, I was asking where the 11.6kg weight is stated...I see 8.2kg0 -
I asked the wiggle website what weight the 2010 model was as it had been previously asked with no response. Wiggle added the weight yesterday.
I'm pleased its not as heavy as previously mentioned as its on my shortlist for the new year, just got to hope they start dropping the price now when the old models are sold off :?:0 -
this has no weight the new 2010 model
