Headset races

I've just got a replacement frame with a FSB headset fitted. Problem is it's missing the outer races (i.e. I can see the ball bearings both top and bottom). Can I use the outer races from my other frame's Cane Creek headset? Or do I have to buy FSB ones for this headset? (Are they even sold separately)?
How long would the bike last without a bottom outer race on it (i.e. just resting on the fork's race surface)? I only ask as if I have to replace the headset anyway I may as well run it without the bottom race until it dies?
I just do fairly simple XC riding

You will ruin the fork crown running ball bearings on it! You just can't do this.
You ned the correct race for the headset.0
