    Lots of stuff near Portsmouth.

A Good start point is QEP from which you can go along the SDW and link into lots of bridle paths etc. I would head east out of the park as there is more interesting stuff out towards Harting.

Kingly vale is also good which a nice downhill track which some biggish jumps and berms. I normally ride through here as part of a longer ride, either from QEP or Stansted, but i'm sure you can put a reasonable length loop around it as there are loads of bridle paths etc.

If you don't fancy lots of hills then theres 100 acres at Wickham which is a bit gentler and can link onto the old railway line which goes up to West Meon. You can also link into the SDW from the railway line.

Another more sedate place is Havant Thicket/Staunton Country Park, you can ride any path there and can easily get a 10+ mile loop out of it there is some single track but it is mainly fire road type stuff.

  • D'oh! I rode past the start of that trail on saturday but didn't bother exploring (focusing on the ride I was on I suppose). At least I have an excuse to go back there now :)

I live in Portsmouth and usually park up around QECPish and then ride the bridleways around the south downs to the east/west. Get a map and follow your nose!

google 'kingley vale mountain bikers' they're an affiliation of mtb'ers that meet up for regular rides around the vale and QECP.
