Hiya peeps,
I have nearly worn out the tyres on my bike now they were Panaracer Cinders 2.10 and i like them in the dry, but on the clay based mud here they aren't all that brilliant.
What tyres does anyone recommend for winter mud tyres for use on clay based mud, roots and occasional trail centre stuff?
Many thanks, Caz xxxxx

Bonty mud x or panaracer trailrackers
Been in the lbs today0 -
+1 for Trailrakers, shed well, dig into the deepest gloop to keep you rolling, quite thin for their width excellent. Not so great on wet rock / roots though. I tend to use a Trailraker on the rear to keep the forward traction and use something like a High Roller on the front to stop the front wheel slipping out on rocks etc. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
Is a 2.10 about the right width to get or should i go wider or thiner?
I am such a noob

I use Bonty Mud X front and rear, have used them since start of this year and right through the so called 'summer'. Swapped them round a few months back but after recently doing most of the 7 Stanes they're needing replaced me thinks. I'm buying another pair soon, I love em0

I find that Maxxis Swampthings are excellent, nice widely-spaced kobs and the 42a Super Tackys grip like nobody's business.
However...
Have a look on eBay and search for Onza Porcupine tyres. The best mud and wet weather tyre bar none if you can find them...0 -
Bonty Mud X are great tyres i got them on my hard tail as a wet set up but tbh i use em in wet dry snow every thing (tubeless), I really rate them highly and I'm about to stick a set on the FS for winter as well now
Check out the bike radar review ? http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/components/tyres/mountain/product/mud-x-26x20-tyre-15746
Oh btw go slightly narrower for winter/ mud tyres! more mud clearance on the frame and they cut through the mud/snow easier to find grip !0 -
If it's really clayey and you get a lot collecting on the bike then go down to the smallest width, I personally use a 1.95" trailraker on the back of my 456 in the really muddy season can cycle with my rear mech below ground and still not clog the frame that way!0
