I currently have 25mm conti ultra gator skins on my defy. In order to fit the giant defy mudguards I will need to change to 23mm tyres.
I use the bike for daily fast commutes and training, as well as longer weekend rides. Should I stick with gator skins, otherwise I was thinking of conti gp 4 seasons or gp 4000s ? Any advice appreciated.

  • I have a Defy with mudguards - also had to swap to 23mm

I had Schwalbe Blizzard Sport on - back lasted ~1300mile before gettting a big hole, front so far done 2100 miles.
Swapped the back to a Conti GP 4 season(35quid) - so thats done 800 miles no problems + its easy enough to get on+off the rims.

Went to Decathlon and got some Michelin Krylion(23quid) ready for when these tyres fail.

I have silver mudguards and after 2000 miles they they have see through patches where detritus has rubbed away the paint - so make sure you fit them with as good a clearance as possible.

    Thanks,
I tried them with the 25s and must admit I was till concerned as to whether 23s would make the difference.I'll give it a go, probably with conti 4 seasons since i've read up on what's on offer.Found them for £26 each.
