Am in the market for a new hardtail frame, Im currently on a PlanetX armadillo which I love but am finding it a bit rough on the old arse, as it is a HARDTAIL [oh so hard] I was looking for something long travel but maybe a bit more compliant on the backend. The Ragley blue pig seems to be a good candidate but I cant find many reviews, so is there anyone out there who has one and whats it like??

Thanks in advance.

They won't let me breed on account of my bad temperament.

  • budget?

I'd go for something like a Ti hardtail, something like a ridgeline 26-LT.
  • Some recent mags have reviewed them, take a look there as well.
  • What kind of riding will you be doing predominantly? Blue Pig is more than your average XC frame it's built to take some punishment so weighs more than some.
  • Its great buy one.

Strong enough to do all stainburn can throw at it. That includes 5ft drop and some trials moves plus did a 45 mile Dent to Skipton XC ride. 6 hours in the saddle. Felt good at the end.
Its a strange one to review. It just works. Its steel, rides like steel and ticks all my boxes.
Buy it, support an English design.

  • buy one - they're great :)

I've been riding mine since the end of July here in the alps - really top bike - can handle pretty much everything. I've had a Pike on the front, and some 160mm fox 36's - it can do both forks justice.

Pretty comfortable over the rough stuff.

Confidence inspiring laid back head angle.

    All round winner!

unless you want a light XC bike... perhaps the mmmmbop would be good for that.. not tried one of those though..

Cool, retro and sometimes downright rude MTB and cycling themed T shirts. Just MTFU.

If you were wondering if Stu is some viral Ragley advertising thing, Brant ain't that subtle, he'd just come on here with his Brant account and tell you it's ace

It probably is tbh. I think if I'd not already got the Soul, I'd consider one. Looks like I'd like it. Not too expensive for a flutter either I reckon. Maybe I'd hold out for an MMMbop for the lighter weight.

    :D
  • In answer to the negative replies, ti is out of my budget, weight ain't an issue as the armadilo weighs 31lbs, so's suspension cos I ride a 35lbs coiler as well, as for structural issues [watch out with them carbon bars Duffer].

As for all the positive replies THANKS GUYS looks like my Chrissy presents sorted now!!!!!!!!!!!
