I've been riding for a couple of years now and did coast to coast (the mountain bike route) over the summer, looking to start doing some races, any length will do really as long as it isn't too epic. Any ideas, near Stourbridge, Birmingham area if possible. Thanks a lot.

Matt my lads in that category Have a look here http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web/site/BC/Bridge/calendar_future.asp?evt_cp=1&evt_mode=0&evt_id=&evt_seriesid=&evt_myevents=No&RefID=&RefType=&evt_month=All&evt_kw=&evt_regions=All+Regions&evt_disc=Mountain+Biking&evt_class=&evt_cat=&evt_series=&evt_resultspp=20
Bit late in the season now but plenty of cyclo cross races and you can use mountain bikes in them0 -
not too sure about that region, but if he's fit, don't bother too much with junior events.
Enter him into the adult categories, the pain of a lack of success will produce a much stronger competitive streak along with a truly remarkable desire to succeed.
Although feel free to ignore me, i'm not a parent, and i understand this is your child. But I do coach a fair few juniors to moderate success in other sports.0 -

Or it might put him off racing.
Enter him in a realistic catergory first, then take it from there.

These races are held in lancashire, so they are a way away, but they may be worth checking out.
I've entered my first race at Lee Quarry in the 15-17 catergory, I'll see how it goes...Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
Bit too south.
But Spambiking hold a winter challenge on the 3rd jan, near devizes (wiltshire)
and under 18's can enter with parental permission.
