Chain rings falling apart
I have been commuting on my pride and joy in this dry weather and became aware of a creaking sound. Thought it was the Chorus bottom bracket, which was second hand and tired when I got it, but the creaking was only on the inner ring.
So I thought it had to be chain rub.
I loosened the front mech, raised it a bit, moved it outwards. But it didn't do any good.
Only on third roadside attempt this morning did I notice I had lost 3 of the chain ring bolts on the Record square tapered crankset. And the fourth was loose. I tightened that one up and limped to work on the outer ring.
Losing chainring bolts - and the creaking sound caused by it - is a first for me. Are Campag/Shimano ones are interchangeable?
