    Polar CS200 is pretty popular and well within budget

    I have the Cateye V3, haven't used anything else to compare it to but have found it easy to set up and use.

    Happy with my Suunto T4C (T3C is cheaper)
    Buy the basic monitor and the the road skewer and cadence pod separetly although I think they do a road bike package.
