Looking for a HT mtb for my girlfriend for xmas, needs to be a HT as probably at times will have a child seat fitted as well! (want to start my 10month old daughter on the right foot ;) ) will mainly be riding paths, gravel and fire roads (live close to Afan).
I'm looking for something thats lightweight and has half decent front forks (ie tora's etc) and almost certainly good v-brakes as discs would fowl up the child seat?

I know its a hard ask, but anyone seen any that fit the bill, any 2009 bargains to be had.
My girlfriend is 5ft 8.

many, many thanks!

  • if you're not doing any proper offroad why don't you just buy a full rigid hybrid? You'll get much better spec for your money as your not paying for expensive (and needlessly extra weight) front forks
  • well we'll be doing fire roads and rough gravel paths around Afan so i feel she'd be more confortable (and stick with the sport) longer... (thats the idea anyways!)

  • spesh myka? My other half has one. she liked it so much she sold her safire fsr. It might not have tora's on it but they are a very good bike for the money.
  • as per sellisnba
  • my other 'alf has bought a 2010 Myka Comp (£449) which is a very good bike. If that is a tad too much there are two models for less dosh, the cheapest being £299 I think. The Scott Contessa is also worth considering as are Trek WSD models.
