Sorry if this has been asked before, but...

I've book a flight wth BA, and noted that certain sporting goods will be carried free of charge. Bikes are included in this (at least til 7th October) but it is not clear anywhere whether you have to inform BA that you'll be bringing a bike.

Is it OK to just turn at at the airport with the bike (in a bike bag) and they will take it?

Previously I've onl;y taken a bike on EasyJet and RyanAir flights, and you need to tick that box whilst booking the flight - there was nothing like this on the BA booking form.

I sent them an e-mail query but have had no reply...

I flew with BA last summer and just turned up with my bike. It wasn't a problem. I'm disappointed they're starting to charge now though.
  • You don't have to inform them.
  • just turn up...but beware, as there are umpteen horror stories about etapers turning up in France with their bikes going off to more exotic locations...

that said, BA are the best for bikes, followed by Easyjet. NEVER even dream about taking your bike on Bryanair !!!
