all,

after having my 2 bikes stolen I find myself in a nice but a little difficult position, the insurance co, have offered me the following bike replacements and i'd like your views; or alternatives

Trek fuel EX8 2010 or Giant Anthem x2 2010

GT Zaskar Carbon Expert or Specialized Stumjumper Carbon Comp HT 2010

Typically riding south / north downs (leith, pitch, holbury etc) 15-25milers

All views welcomed.
TIA

  • You must have had 2 good bikes to be offered those.
I personally love the Treks and the Zaskar is a great looking bike.

I'd go for a stumpy ht and a stumpy fsr.

out of those 2 options, i would take the trek and the specialized.

a mate has got one of those treks (an 09 version) and it is beautiful in the flesh, i love the manipulation of the frame and he reports that it rides superbly.

i would have the stumpjumper because i think it is better looking than the zaskar and better specced too.

I'd go for the Anthem out of the 2 full sussers...... unless you need the extra bounce for more aggro on the downhills the Trek would be wasted and a fair chunk heavier

No idea on the 2 carbon HTs, but why can't the insurance co let you choose one from your local bike shop? You have that right, they just don't tell you about it
