Novice question about 6 bolt hub adapters

Hi,
I just ordered a pair of Mavic Crossrides 6 bolt from Merlin Cycles to replace my stolen wheels and they've sent me centre lock with adapters. It did say that adapters would be supplied right at the bottom of the page but I didn't see it. Anyhoo, the lock ring seems to be very stiff to tighten, even with my best attempt it was about 1.5mm from the disc. Is there a special tool for this? I don't want to f#ck the hub. Thanks.
P.S. Is the adapter a Mavic adapter? It looks sh!te, the lock ring is gold for some reason when the wheel is black and the rotor is silver.

not a cassette tool.
you need the HT2 BB tool."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Look at the supplied picture.
It is a BB tool version
scroll right."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I think it must be this HT2 BB tool as the ring has no internal splines:-
