Speed Kings make sense tho fourcrossjim, the OEM ones are pretty cheap (and not very good for that matter). And tyres help make a good first impression. (if you lift up an 08 carrara kraken and the 09 model, the 08 one is almost a kilo heavier- solely because of the lead tyres) Same reason Zestys come with fast skinny tyres, completely inappropriate for the bike really but it makes them light, and on your testride round the block the bike feels crazy fast.Uncompromising extremist0 -
I think it is an attempt at a budget XC racer. Fair enough, most bikes at this price are more relaxed, and with disc brakes often top the 30lb mark. But this is still 30lb, and has the fork from Hades, the 5.5lb monster that is the pogo Dart1.
The old Trek 4500 V did it somewhat better.0 -

Yes, the vulcan is very simular to be honest. I don't see much point in the spec.
Personally I do not trust anything that comes from a Halfords store.

It is amazing though, that I paid the same for my wifes Fury and that has a much better spec!
As said above it'll be 50% in a week or 2!

I like Vs too - and would rather have Vs and a semi decent fork than discs and a bad fork.
This bike doesn't get that fork, hard to see where the money is.0 -
