Cycle Speed Bumps

Hi first time I've posted a topic. Hope of interest to you.
Local residents have installed 'cycle bumps' to slow down speeding cyclists. I'm off down to take a look to see how effective they actually are. The 'street' is more of an alley.

Has anyone else seen these things in their area? Do you think it's a sign of things to come?

Bunny hop.
They'll have to be quite lethal to bikes cause allot of bumps you can do well over 30 on a bicycle if you are careful.0 -
I'd plow into it and sue the feckers 8)winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

I think they have just used a pic of some speed humps because these wouldnt slow me down. What I have found is that the newer speed bumps doesnt slow me down at all. I can comfortably hit them at over 20mph.0 -
In the Tour of Britain they went over much MUCH worse speed bumps than that at likely over 30mph.0

Here's a link to the story in the times.

Note the pic, I wouldn't go over those at 30!
Plus, of course, the usual anti-cyclist crap in the comments.
Can some of you Londoners comment on how prevalent aggressive, illegal riding really is among city cyclists?0 -

Wouldn't a white line down the middle with bikes on one side and walkers on the other cost less?
No wonder the roads are full of holes! Muppets in charge!0 -
Is this a piss take?
Do they not have something more constructive to spend money on?0 -
Apparently they don't extend to the edges so there are some quite challenging slalom possibilities... not that I'm suggesting anything, oh, no....0

What a waste of time. Speed bumps hardly slow cyclists down as we can just take the bump in our knees anyway. I only bother slowing down for really harsh ones now!0

I want to take my mountain bike down there and have a go at full speed.0

the funny subtitle on the yahoo "speeding cyclists shattering the peace of a quiet back street" in response to that, the mtb & bmx riders should make this sound
