Rotor Sizes

Couldn't be bothered to change a tyre last night on the FSR so swapped a wheel off the Fury instead.
Both the bikes and all four sets of wheels are running 185/160's so I can do this, or so I thought. The tektro disc is rubbing on the front & rear to the point it's binding. Is this normal? I would have thought that rotors would be made a standard width? or I am I hoping for too much

The hub may not be the same though ;-)
So the rotor may be in a different place. You can get shims though.0 -
I'll have a look at that but they're rubbing on both pads, checked alignment and that's ok. I'm 'borrowing' a micrometer from work to see if there is any difference.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

If ur brakes have post mounts then simply undo the bolts holding them in place, squeeze the lever to center the caliper and tighten the bolts up again with the lever still pulled and ur away.
If u have IS mounts then as sonic says u will have to buy some spacers, i found B&Q to be a good place with some very thing washers for a few pence.0 -

But if you have Avid disk brakes you can do this on the IS mounts too.0 -
I was referring to rotor shims.0

were one set of discs older than the other? rotors do wear.
and a few thou. can make the difference between rubbing or not."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Sorry for hi-jacking the thread here...
I've just had the same problem - gone from deore hubs to hope pro 3's, manitou black elite forks (with the post mounts) and juicy 3's and I can't get enough sideways movement to make it stop rubbing.
So a shim to go between the disc and hub sounds perfect, where can I get one?
end of hijack, sorry!!!0 -
you should beable to get enough movement on the avids they have plenty of adjustment.
syntace do the shims as do hope."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
