i remember my old cannondale chase 2, 2004 model

didnt use to make noise while riding along and not pedalling and i dont think it used to make a noise if you did something like pedal backwards

how is this done? what is on the bike because some bikes make a noise when you are not pedalling, but how is no noise possible like it was on my old bike?

Some bikes have virtually silent clutch mechanisms in the freehub body.
  • some older shimano ones were really whisper quiet

Hope hubs on the other hand, you can measure them on the richter scale
